Takisha Thompson - SPOTLIGHT Teen Of The Month - May 2009
M.E.L.L. Inc teen parent, Takisha Thompson has been nominated as SPOTLIGHT Teen Of The Month, for the Month of May with The Teen Tool Box, LLC.
Takisha is a senior at Laurel High School and is on track to graduate on June 2, 2009. Takisha is the mother of 1 year old Chasity Boyd and is a honor roll student with a GPA of 3.69. When Takisha is not in school, she works at Giant Food Stores in Greenbelt, Maryland.
After graduation, Takisha will attend Bowie State University for 1 year and transfer to University of Maryland to study family law.
Takisha says that her inspiration is her daughter Chasity. "Chasity is the reason for me wanting to reach my goal's", states Takisha.
Takisha joined M.E.L.L. Inc. in March 2009, and has been matched with mentor Tamalyn Hemphill. Tamalyn states that Takisha is very focused and a great mentee.
The staff of M.E.L.L. Inc. is very proud of Takisha and her accomplishments and acknowledge that Takisha is not only a good role model for Chasity, but for all teen parents.
On April, 29, 2009, Takisha was presented a certificate for "Teen Of The Month" by The Teen Tool Box, LLC, Chief Visionary Officer, Nicki Sanders. The celebration was televised by Prince George's Community Television - CTV News. Takisha's mentor Tamalyn and M.E.L.L. Inc. Executive Director, Tammie Amoroso were in attendance to help Takisha celebrate.
